ESPGHAN What’s New – July 2023

Dear ESPGHAN Members, friends and colleagues,

We would like to remind all members of the ongoing consultation for the Liaison Officer role and the general principle of paid roles for ESPGHAN members. The response rate has been good to date but we would encourage all members to take this opportunity to express their opinions on this role and to contribute to the consultation. The survey and information can be accessed here. The deadline has been initially extended to 31.08.2023.

In addition to our consultation process, we would like to invite all of our members to participate in our member-focussed campaign #WeAreESPGHAN. Important Information for Members

EU Pharmaceutical regulations

This April, the EU published a proposal for the New Regulation of Pharmaceuticals and opened a call for comments, which ESPGHAN submitted on 25th July. 
Paediatric drug shortages due to insufficient investment in novel paediatric drug development and gross delays in market authorisation of paediatric medicine compared to adults are causing a significant clinical problem. The EC tasked the Liaison Officer to develop a societal statement on this proposal. Due to the nature of the EU open call which asks for comments from single entities (companies, societies, individuals, etc.) rather than multiple organisations, this letter is signed by ESPGHAN only. ESPGHAN Research Grant Call 
Deadline for applications is 4th October 2022. Further information can be found here. 

Reminder: ESPGHAN Young Investigator Forum Faculty
Applications are sought from enthusiastic individuals who are interested in teaching young and upcoming investigators. 2 positions are currently available for a period of 3 years, with an option to extend by one term. Specialists in Hepatology and Nutrition are particularly welcomed. Please contact the ESPGHAN Office for further details. 

ESPGHAN Congress bid
Are you interested in bringing the ESPGHAN Congress to your local city? Our PCO will soon open the bidding for the congress destination for 2026. The destinations will be presented to members for voting at the 2024 AGM. If you would like some further information on the process, please contact our PCO manager Ira Hajdamacha at Irah@kenes.com.
