Dear ESPEN member,
After a very successful 44th ESPEN Congress in Vienna accompanied with lot of news, your society continuing with education, research and other activities!

The 44th ESPEN Congress ended with a total number of delegates almost 4100 from more than 130 countries. Top ten countries included participants from Netherlands, Italy, Spain, UK, Croatia, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Slovenia and France. Number of accepted abstracts was 927. In addition to numerous scientific sessions, 17 LLLs, cases presentations, during this congress the International Declaration on the Human Right to Nutritional Care “Vienna Declaration” was endorsed by the four major international Clinical Nutrition Societies – ASPEN, ESPEN, FELANPE and PENSA in conjunction with representatives of patients’ associations (EPF), dietitians (EFAD), and a global network of more than 70 national Societies.

On November 10th the NutritionDay will be a part of the ESPEN Malnutrition Awareness Week!
NutritionDay is carried out every year in November as a 1-day cross-sectional audit, and it represents one of the largest international databases of hospitalized patients. ESPEN encourage not only members but all health care professional to participate.

Do not forget the Malnutrition Awareness Week from November 7-11th in order to raise awareness about malnutrition in our community with aims to educate healthcare professionals about early detection and treatment of malnutrition, patients on the importance of discussing their nutrition status and to increase awareness of nutrition’s role on patient recovery. More information will be available soon.

Two ESPEN webinars are upcoming!
Muscle mass and the diagnosis of malnutrition in the GLIM context will be held on September 19th 2022 │ 3.00 – 4.30 pm CEST (GMT +2). Registration is free and scientific program is available here.
ESPEN webinar “Clinical nutrition in surgery” will be held on October 11th 2022 │ 4.00 – 5.30 pm CEST (GMT +2) with free registration here.
