Dear ESPEN member,
After a very successful 45th ESPEN Congress in Lyon accompanied with lot of news, your society continuing with education, research and other activities!
The 45th ESPEN Congress ended with a total number of delegates 3728 (7% virtual) from 103 countries, top 10 countries were Netherlands, France, UK, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Greece, China; number of accepted abstracts 1055, 17 scientific sessions, plus Cuthbertson and Wretlind lectures, oral communication sessions, 10 educational sessions, 2 case presentations, nurses-pharmacists-dietitians workshop, guidelines sessions and 20 LLLs.
ESPEN has missioned UNICEF to manage the cloakroom during our Lyon congress. Thanks to our support and the generosity of congress participants, UNICEF will be able to buy 17,000 sachets of ready-to-use therapeutic food, allowing 800 malnourished children to gain one kilogram of body weight over one week.
The 10th ESPEN Symposium “Nutrition for the older adult – Current concepts” will be held in Istanbul, Turkey on December 3-4, 2023.

ESPEN Workshop on Nutritional Screening and Assessment will be held in Amsterdam UMC, Location AMC, The Netherlands from 18 – 19 April, 2024.

ESPEN is pleased to confirm the laureates of the 2023 ESPEN Research Fellowship program, continuing to fund innovative research from early-career awardees, to enhance knowledge in the field of clinical nutrition and metabolism and to strengthen the role of clinical nutrition.
Congratulations to all ESPEN Educational Grants 2023! The hosting centers are 44 ESPEN training centers from 20 countries.
If you enjoyed last year’s ESPEN Malnutrition awareness week, start preparing for this year’s, because from November 6-10 we will have numerous activities to make the entire world aware that nutrition matters and disease-related malnutrition is a big problem.
